WRH20106 Certificate III in Hairdressing

 Occupation: Hairdresser

Description: The Certificate III in Hairdressing has been designed as the standard entry level qualification for the hairdressing industry.

Likely functions in the hairdressing industry for those who achieve this qualification, involve employment as a hairdresser working as part of team in a salon, performing processes that require a range of well developed skills where discretion and judgement is required; with responsibility for own outputs, and responsibility for the supervision of others, including apprentices. Functions at this level include applying skills and knowledge to sell products and services, ensuring a safe working environment and performing a full range of client services, including client consultation and advice, hair and scalp treatments, haircutting, hair design, colour and lightening, and chemical reformation services on male and/or female clients.

On completion of the course, students will be able to:

  •  Apply safe working practices
  •  Hair and scalp treatments
  •  Haircutting
  •  Colour and Lightening
  •  Chemical Reformation
  •  Hair Styling and Design
  •  Chemical waving and relaxing services
  •  Client consultation and advice
  •  Communicate, retail and perform financial transactions

Pre requisite: there are no prerequisites. However a good knowledge of written and oral English is required

Delivery & Assessment Context: Training and assessment is conducted both in a friendly classroom setting.

Training might include but is not limited to practical workshop, written work, group discussion, debate and practical work on clients.

It is the practice on real clients that will make the student’s learning experience unique. This not only will give the necessary confidence in a variety of situations, but also will give the possibility to apply, in a practical way, what has been taught in class.

Assessment within this program might include a range of approaches such as project work, demonstration of skills on clients, role play, participation in discussions and debates, written and oral tests.

Work placement As a mandatory part of this course, students are required to seek work placement..

At the end of the course students are invited to seek work placement in a salon of their choice.

However, the partnership between our group Odyssey Nail Hair & Beauty will allow the student here to conduct work experience.
